The whole life cycle of the material is considered in my works and the viewer often witnesses nods to birth or decay. I particularly enjoy investigating insect and small animal environments, such as pods, cocoons, or nests. I am interested in these encasements where life forms have once emerged from, or sought protection in. There is something captivating about looking into an unknown world, wandering what has once lived there and since abandoned it. It is also indicative of my belief that my works have a life of their own, with each piece having been born rather than constructed.
